Personal Trainer Bristol – Best Exercise for Abs and Obliques

Do you want a toned and strong core? Personal Trainer Bristol is a core strength and toning expert and this is one of the great exercises that will tone your core and keep it tight and strong. If you you’ve been searching for new exercises to help tone your core this is the best, it’s 2 exercises in 1 and hits more core muscles than any other.

Many people think the best exercises for your stomach are sit ups, crunches and sides bends at Personal Trainer Bristol we know to be not quite correct. When you do these exercises you put extra pressure on your spine making vulnerable to injury.

This is why Personal Trainer Bristol chooses to use exercise like this one, it takes most of that pressure away. Sit Ups, crunches and Side Bends also cause problems with your posture, if you do too many of these exercises they make the muscles of your stomach tighter, which can make your posture look like a hunch back.

Exercises like the side plank with rotation make the same muscles work without causing poor posture and a bad spine.

This exercise is a more advanced exercise so I advise you to build up to it, don’t just jump in at the deep end start doing this exercise. Watch the video to learn how to do it correctly because the teaching points I give you will help you keep a strong, tight core and free from injury.

To be able to do this properly I recommend being able to hold a plank for a minimum of 30 seconds. When you come doing this exercise make sure you follow these tips.

  • Wide stance with your feet
  • Straight line from your ankle, through your hips to your ankles
  • Keep your head in line with the rest of your body
  • Lift your arm form the floor to your hip and return
  • Keep your hips level as you lift your arm
  • Keep your hips from moving to the side
  • Breath out as you lift your arm
  • If you feel pain in your low back, stop.
As soon as you lose the straight line between ankles, hips and shoulders, stop. If you hips twist, stop. Perform this exercise with perfect technique and start with the number of arm lift you are comfortable with.

Do this exercise until you can hold your body still for 12 lifts of the arm, a normal time frame for this could as much as 6 months to master this exercise. It’s a great exercise and is for people who want to improve their core stability and posture.

Personal Training Bristol – How to make sense of Contradicting Health & Fitness Information

One day it’s healthy, the next it’s unhealthy, this is a typical pattern in the health and fitness industry. Personal Training Bristol want to help you make sense of it. In this 20min audio I hope to share with you how you can begin to make sense of the contradicting information.

The health and fitness industry has become a mine field of information and as a Personal Trainer and Health & Fitness Professional it is my job to help you understand the myths from the truth.

So much of the information needs to be proven by science and science doesn’t always paint the whole picture. Science is very black and white, this doesn’t give definition to the picture to the picture.

What health and fitness information needs is that definition and it comes in the form of common sense. These 2 element need to work together to paint the whole picture and give it clear perspective, foreground and background.

Common sense alone won’t answer the question because there is no definite proof and when there is only science you only get a narrow perspective. Put the two together and you can begin to understand the mine field that is the health and fitness industry.

When you bring together common sense and science the opinions that once conflicted begin to find the their place. The result is you begin to have more confidence in yourself, what you eat and how you exercise.

Please listen to this audio, recorded for Personal Training Bristol by me, Chris and I hope you can grow in confidence and make sense of what was once conflicting information.

Personal Training Bristol: My Thoughts on Scientist, Personal Training & The Fitness Industry Part 2

Personal Training Bristol: My Thoughts on Scientist, Personal Training & The Fitness Industry Part 3

Research shows Personal Trainers are the best thing for your health and fitness – Personal Training in Bristol

Do you want to be fitter but never seem to get round to starting an exercise program? Have you started an exercise program and stopped a couple of months later?

In a study by Len Kravitz Ph.D on exercise participation he found that 50% of people starting an exercise program would stop within the first 6 month. This is an alarming figure but it’s not surprising.

People have set out with the best intentions become fit and healthy and then it becomes to hard to fit in, as they have the school run, work and afternoons/evenings to sort the kids out, cook dinner and somewhere within all of this, time to relax!!

This is explained later in the study “People who over-estimate their expectancies from exercise are most likely to drop out” (Whaley and Schrider, 2005). For example he continues, “A person who expects to lose a lot of weight from exercise, and does not, is likely to drop out from the exercise program. The message here denotes how pivotal ‘realistic’ weight loss goals presented in an ‘attainable’ ‘timeline’” he continues.

This is where Personal Training in Bristol comes in, having worked in gyms with 100’s of people over the years I’ve seen people come and go, they start in January and stop by march and I have begun to see what helps people stick to exercise.

Here is what they found to help people stick to an exercise plan

  • “A person’s confidence in her/his ability to do exercise”, working with a personal trainer will help you build your confidence
  • They says thing like “I am going to my personal training session because I want to, it makes me feel good, and I’m worth the time.” We can help this be you.
  • “Whatley and Schrider note that positive feedback and knowledgeable guidance from an exercise professional, within a supportive exercise atmosphere, is also consequential to exercise compliance.” At Personal Training in Bristol this is our commitment to you.
  • “It appears that easy access to exercise facilities enhances exercise adherence” (Trost et al., 2002). In association with 2 top Personal Training gyms in Clifton and Stoke Bishop you get a great facility that’s easy to get to.

If you are a person who wants to achieve a healthy fit lifestyle with a training partner that will build your confidence, guide you and plan everything so you don’t have to contact Gemma or me. Remember “it’s like training with a friend every week”
